What I will tell you for now is that the winner will get to choose between the two Malabrigo Lace's I ordered from Flocks of Yarn. (I'm stealing pics from the site since they look much better than the ones I took...hopefully my birthday means a new camera for me!)
On the left is "Paris Night" and on the right is "Bobby Blue." I couldn't choose which one to use to make Citron so I'm letting you choose for me :o)
There will be other goodies, but we'll save that for a surprise. I'll probably cave and dish eventually, but for now I'm keeping it a secret.
How can you enter? Oh, so many ways. I enjoy blogs that give you multiple ways to enter so I'm definitely offering that. You earn 1 entry for each of the following that you do:
- Comment on the blog. Since I already picked Rebekkah's name, tell me your favorite type of cake to have for your birthday (or other treat).
- Send an email to crookedknits@gmail.com telling me about your favorite birthday memory.
- Follow me on twitter @crookedknits (send a direct message after so I know you did it for the contest).
- Find me on Ravelry! Again, name is crookedknits, easy enough (same thing- send a message so I know you want the entry and you can do this if you're already my friend there too)
Entries are due by 11:59 pm March 26th. I'll be leaving for Florida then, but the winner will be chosen when I return after Easter.
Good luck everyone!
Don't enter me in the contest--I just wanted to post a Happy (early) Birthday comment! My favorite cake BY FAR is creme de menthe--regular white cake mix with green food coloring and creme de menthe liquour added, a layer of chocolate fudge on top, and a "frosting" of green cool whip with more creme de menthe for a slightly minty taste. LOVE!
ReplyDeleteWould it make you feel better if I offered a yarn that did not come from your store? haha PS I'm all caught up on Stitch It now so I listened two the two episodes of The Knitting Show I got left behind on

Happy Impending Birthday! I love German Chocolate Cake, or more accurately, the Coconut frosting. Both yarns are great shades of my favorite color, blue. I thought I left this comment before, but I guess not, probably blew the veri-word withoug noticing. Or, if it's a dup, I'm sorry. Oh, yeah, good luck on the camera!
ReplyDeleteWhite cake with chocolate frosting. I like buttercream!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday - I hope it's a great one!
My favorite cake is vanilla with chocolate buttercream. The best of both worlds.

Ooh! Happy Birthday, soon! My favorite birthday treat is plain yellow cupcakes, from the box mix, with plain chocolate frosting, from the can. Not fancy, but de-licious!
ReplyDeleteBecause I am the cake maker in the house if I want a Birthday Treat the cake has to be bought. Luckily we have some fantastic local patisseries.
ReplyDeleteOne does a delicious rich cheesecake on a brownie base. Scrummy.
Another is the Tricolad (3 chocolate). It is 3 layers of rich, smooth, chocolate mousse (dark, white, milk) on a thin chocolate cake base.
If you get the large version of this for your Birthday party your friends will love you forever!
OH Love love love chocolate cake with a chocolate mousse frosting. How yummy and light and tasty.
ReplyDeleteI hope that your birthdy is filled with smiles and fibers (yarns).
I never click on links in my own comments, so I can't say why I'd expect you to click on a link in yours. But wouldn't this just be the coolest birthday cake ever? http://whisk-kid.blogspot.com/2009/08/say-it-with-cake.html
ReplyDeleteI don't have enough cake pans to bake it. but it looks absolutely delicious! So happy early birthday, as it were, with internet cakes anyway.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite cake for my birthday is yellow cake with buttercream frosting, from my favorite local bakery. Though I also really love my own homemade pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting, but when it's my birthday it HAS to be the yellow cake from the bakery. =)

happy birthday to you!! 25, your a babe still! smile, i will be 40 this coming earth day... it goes so fast! Fav bday memory? My mom and gram used to make an elaborate cake each year, and i usually had 2, one at each grandparents.. one always the barbie dol cake with the cake being her skirt. Worst bday memory, falling off the birthday bike and spending the evening in the hospital with a good concussion. oops!
ReplyDeleteHappy almost birthday! My birthday is right after Christmas, so most years, I'm ready to lay off the sweets and I sometimes skip the cake. Lame, I know. But if I am able to snag an ice cream cake, than it's a happy day. Especially if it's cookies and cream. Or mint chocolate chip.
ReplyDeleteHappy happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteFavourite cake...tough one. I guess it would be vanilla cheesecake, brownie crust, with a dark chocolate layer on top.

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteWhen I worked at a bakery we did this one called a princess cake. (I think. It's been awhile.) If I remember correctly, it was a white, sponge cake with a raspberry filling and it was covered with marzipan in a way that you would cover a cake with fondant. It was decorated with pretty chocolate lacy designs. So pretty! I got to taste it, but somehow never ordered one for my own birthday. Delishious!
Happy Birthday! I've never tried malabrigo so this is my chance!
ReplyDeleteBirthday cake - a nice dense chocolate always wins here.
